What is Floribbean Cooking?

Simply, it is the combination of the Caribbean spices & the abundant supply of fresh Florida Citrus. The Caribbean has a large amount of great shellfish, deep sea fish that have a stimulating aroma & spicy marinated meats. South Florida has a great supply of local fruits like mangoes, kiwi, papaya & other citrus;fresh fish like Mahi Mahi, Grouper & Snapper.

These two come together as one. They bring your taste buds alive with the combination of Caribbean spices & fresh, sweet local fruits and fish. The combination will give you a burning desire to come back again & again.

Floribbean roots go back to the Awawack Indians who originated in South America. They invented open flame cooking & discovered small hot peppers to their food for a delicious fiery flavor. Rubbing herbs & spices into their meat helped to preserve it and made the pungent spicy aroma that we now associate with Caribbean cooking.

The Spanish, being world travelers, arrived and brought with them bananas, coconuts, limes & oranges to add a delicate sweetness to their incredibly tasty, spicy feasts. The Jamaicans perfected this technique, inventing what we love in today’s Caribbean cuisine.

The Caribbean is abundant with fresh seafood making it a main staple dish to the locals. Popular shellfish are shrimp, lobster & conch, as well as many varieties of deep sea fish. This is why seafood is a mainstay in the Caribbean & Florida cuisine. Floribbean cuisine becomes more popular everyday and the word has become commonplace in both restaurant magazines & cooking shows.

This is a great casual restaurant with a feel of the islands. The food is great, and the prices are very reasonable. We had Mahi sandwiches one night, and went back for a second dinner on another night. On the second trip, I had the best filet mignon sandwich EVER. It was topped with slices of brie, and only 12 bucks! Highly recommended! Our server had a great personality too.

It is a great casual place. Alot of the entertainment comes from watching all the Harleys pull up out front. We enjoyed the staff and food so much, we came back everyday. It is worth a visit.
